Caden walked along the deck that was filled with passengers from all classes lounging in the warm sun and taking in the salty breeze. He came to an empty patch of rail and leaned against it looking over the edge at the ocean passing beneath them with speed. You couldn't see anything but water for miles and miles. He had been waiting on this deck for an hour now for his younger sister who was riding first class. He was supposed to check in on her. She had obviously found something more important as she hadn't shown yet. He had decided to wait a few more minutes to see if she had just written down the time wrong. As he turned back toward the ship, and away from the racing ocean that was beginning to make him see sick, he watched the passengers walk by. All talking to some friend of theirs or another. He had never felt more alone then he did standing amongst these people who most of them were rich. Most of them sped up as they walked by him. He sighed. Where could Alysa be?

Elisabeth was alone. Her parents had left to do 'their own thing' which really meant, 'I don't want to be around the children'. Elisabeth's brother was somewhere on the ship and Elisabeth was left alone. It was always like that. She had gotten use to being alone, but that didn't mean she still didn't feel hurt by it. It seemed like no one wanted to be near her. And because of that, Elisabeth always had a hateful nature to her. She was always pretty snobby and mean. Not wanting to think about being left alone, Elisabeth headed to the middle deck. She would've gone to the first deck, but she didn't want to rick seeing her parents.
When Elisabeth reached the middle deck, she immediately headed for the rail. She put her elbows on the railing then rested her head on her right hand. She stared out at the ocean and sighed. The ocean. A beautiful thing. Yet dangerous. The way the water moved was so calming. But when a storm comes, the water would become a deadly thing. It almost reminded her of herself. She looked calm and peaceful on the outside, but once you get her mad, she would become a danger, hazardous to the world around her. Elisabeth sighed again and turned around. She looked around her and saw everybody with somebody. Nobody was alone. Elisabeth gave a disgusted look. Why was everybody else having a perfect life? A perfect vacation? Why wasn't she? She rolled her eyes and was about to look at the ocean again when she spotted someone. Someone who was alone like herself. It gave Elisabeth a little comfort to know that someone was also alone.

Caden sighed pulling out his cell phone to look at the time. She should have been here. But she never had much of a sense of responsibility. Oh well, he thought. He went to put his cell phone back in his pocket but it fell on the floor. Some little snooty kid saw him drop it and kicked it farther down the deck. Caden sighed. He walked a ways down the deck to retrieve his phone. He bent down and picked it up. As he straightened putting the phone in his pocket in the process he looked straight into the eyes of a blond girl who was the only one else on this deck standing alone. He was inches from her. He instantly backed up. "I-I-I'm really sorry." He stuttered embarrassed.

Elisabeth watched as the boy took out his cell phone and looked at it. She saw him unsuccessfully put it back in his pocket and saw a little boy kick the phone by her feet. She raised an eyebrow and watched the boy come over. He picked the phone up and when he straightened himself out, he was merely inches away from Elisabeth. She gave a little smirk and smiled. She titled her head to the side and looked at the boy. As he apologized she gave another smile. Elisabeth always thought it was funny when guys grew embaressed. "It's ok. So, what's a guy like you doing all alone?"

"Waiting for my sister. She's riding first class and I am supposed to check up on her. She never showed up. She does that quite often. I don't really mind anymore but I do want to know if she's ok." He answered rambling slightly. Then he looked at her. "And why are you here all alone?" He asked her.

Elisabeth looked at the boy as he talked about his sister. But truth was, she wasn't really listening. She twisted her hair around her finger and with her other hand pulled out a piece of gum. She placed it gracefully into her mouth. Elisabeth smiled and answered his question, "My story's not half as interesting as yours was...But if you must know...I was ditched." Elisabeth gave him a little smile. "But of course, I don't mind. I wouldn't be having half a good of a time with them then I would with you."

He listened to her answer still glancing around a little to see if Alysa had shown up. But of course, she still hadn't. "Ditched on a ship? Isn't that a little hard. There's nowhere much to go." He asked smiling. "I think you just subconsciously wanted to meet me." He said jokingly.

Elisabeth gave a little smirk. "Well, I think you subconciously dropped your phone. You secretly knew the boy would kick it over here, giving you the chance to talk to me." She gave a little grin and blew a bubble. Elisabeth let it pop and began to chew it again. "And as for being ditched on a ship, it isn't that hard to ditch me if you're my parents." Elisabeth gave a grim smile and rolled her eyes. She twirled her hair around her finger again and looked at the boy infront of her. It then occured to her that they hadn't introduced themselves yet. "I'm Elisabeth by the way."

"Now see, you have it all wrong. I didn't know the boy would kick it. I payed him too, of course." He laughed slightly. He made a funny face and then said, "I would be glad if my parents ditched me. I would be jumping for joy." "Caden." He replied simply. Then remembering manners he was often scolded for he added, "It's nice to meet you."

Elisabeth raised her right eyebrow. "Oh I see. You paid him. Well, that explains everything then." She gave a little smile and a laugh. "Yah, well...I'm kinda used to being ditched by my parents. The only times I see them are when they yell at me to behave and when they come back from meetings." Elisabeth rolled her eyes and looked out at the sea. "So what's your sister doing? It's not right for a young lady to keep men waiting." She said in a mock proper voice. She gave a small, dry laugh and rolled her eyes again. She blew another bubble in her gum and turned to face Caden. Remembering that he has said, It's nice to meet you, she replied back. "Nice to meet you too."
