There are a few important rules that you must know before you sign-up for or post at DSoE. Please make sure you check this board frequently, so you don't unknowingly break any rules. No excuses will be accepted for rule breaking.
1. You MUST be over 13 years of age in order to sign-up and post here. This is something you agree to when you first register at the board. Anyone under 13 will be deleted without notice. Sorry, but you'll be more than welcome to join when you reach age!
2. No "flaming" other people. A flame is when you say something insulting directed at another person. This is a friendly place. Please help us keep it that way.
3. Don't question staff in threads. If a thread you created was locked or deleted, don't make new threads asking about it. If you want to know why it happened, PM a Student of staff and we'll happily answer your questions. (We're not afraid to admit we made a mistake either!)
4. Yes, you CAN have more than one account, however, all must be active. Don't just create a character and not use him or her. Keep ALL accounts you have active. Period.
5. Do not give out passwords to any of the locations on the site that you learn or are given. Only certain people are to have them for a reason.
6. When role-playing, follow the role-play guidelines that have been set up already. It makes everything easier for everyone involved if everyone makes posts the same way. If you disregard the guidelines, you may be warned. Staff does not want to be correcting posts.
7. Please keep content PG to PG-13. Anything other than that will be deleted. You should be able to judge if what you're writing is appropriate or not. If you do wish to have a more mature thread, please PM a Student of the staff and we may lock a thread for you.
8. If you sign-up, post. Inactive accounts can be deleted without notice. (Only accounts with 0 posts will be deleted without notice. If you have at least 1 post, you'll get an email before deletion.)
9. No giving out personal information about other posters. Make sure you have permission before hand. I realize there are lots of "friends" on this board and many people who know one another, but there needs to be some common courtesy. Personal information includes real names, email addresses, private conversations, etc. If they release the information first, it's fair game.
10. Don't use the PM boxes to spam other posters.
11. Requesting to be placed on staff is the fastest way to not be placed on staff. People who are considered actual staff are chosen based on regular posting and their willingness to help the board and the administrators. Requesting to be on staff will be considered spam and that goes for both threads on the board and the PM system.
13. No spamming/advertising your site through the private messaging system. We have an entire board for you to advertise on and we're more than happy to let you advertise in your signature on the board. Sending PMs with the soul purpose of getting our posters to sign-up at your board is an abuse of your account. If you are caught spamming your board in private messages, you will not be given a warning.
14. No complaining about the Students of staff. All of them are very busy people and if they make a call, irregardless of how fair or not you think it is, it stands. The Students of staff will stand behind any call another Student of staff makes.
15. Have fun. That's the whole purpose of this and all the other wonderful sites out there. If you don't have fun, no one will, so let's keep this a fun community for everyone.
16. Swearing is allowed, but please keep it secret word: Marine to a minimum. As of right now no words are censored, but please do not abuse this.
17. If you have a comment about a rule, please PM a staff Student with your question and we will look into it right away. As we have said above, we can make mistakes too!
18. At the bottom of your Character Application, put two winking smilies so that the staff knows you have read the rules and understand them. Plus the secret word.
